简介

总统义工奖是美国政府颁发并承认的、全国性的志愿者奖励，分为年度奖和终身奖（具体奖项及评奖标准见下文）。获得总统义工奖，是最有权威性的社区志愿服务证明之一。

​

斯巴达中文学校（下称中文学校）于2021年6月1日取得总统义工奖认证单位资格，具有记录志愿者义工工时和为其申请总统义工奖的资格。希望中文学校的师生、家长和相关社区人士积极为学校和社区提供志愿者服务，为建设更美好的中文学校和社区，为提高我们个人和组织的可见度和归属感而努力。

 

Introduction

The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a national award issued and recognized by the federal government of the United States of American. PVSA includes annual and lifetime awards (please refer to the Award criteria below for a full list of PVSA awards). PVSA is one of the most authoritative proof of your participation in community volunteering services.

Spartan Chinese School (the School) became a certifying organization of PVSA on June 1st, 2021, and is able to record the volunteering hours for the volunteers and apply for PVSA for them. We hope our students, teachers, parents, and community members actively participate in community services, to build a better school and community, while increasing our personal and organizational visibility and sense of belonging.

参与费用和资格

记录义工工时和参与总统义工奖评奖不需要志愿者缴纳任何费用，所有相关费用由中文学校承担。

 

官方要求总统义工奖参与者是美国公民或绿卡持有者，并至少5岁。

 

以下三类人具有通过中文学校记录义工工时和申请总统义工奖的资格：

1. 中文学校在校学生；

2. 中文学校在任教师、校委会成员、理事会成员及其子女；或，

3. 其他一年内（活动时间段定义见下文）在中文学校志愿服务达到或超过10小时的志愿者。

 

Fees and eligibility

Volunteers do NOT need to pay any fees for volunteering hour recording for PVSA. All related costs will be covered by the School.

 

The volunteers need to be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and 5 years old or above.

 

Volunteers can get their volunteering hours recorded by the School and their awards applied via the School if they belong to one of the three categories below:

1. Currently registered students at the School;

2. Current teachers, Executive Committee members, Board of Directors members at the School, and their children. Or,

3. Other volunteers who serve the School for at least 10 hours a year (please refer to the Time frame below).

每年6月1日至次年5月31日，中文学校将记录志愿者义工工时，用以协助志愿者申请年度奖。

符合要求的志愿服务活动包括：

1. 中文学校校内的服务和活动：每次活动将由中文学校记录服务内容和时长，并告知志愿者。

2. 中文学校以学校为单位组织参加的其他社区服务：每次活动将由中文学校校委会记录服务内容和时长，并告知志愿者。

*注：演出类社区服务（包括中文学校的春节晚会），练习时间不计入义工工时，但彩排时间、实际演出时间和实际录制时间计入义工工时。

 

Time frame, types of services, and hour recording

From June 1st every year to May 31st next year, the School will record volunteering hours for the volunteers and help them apply for PVSA based on their service hours.

The eligible services to be recorded include:

1. Services and activities within the School: the School will record the services and hours and notify the volunteers.

2. Community services participated via the School: the School will record the services and hours and notify the volunteers.

3. Services organized by other organizations: The volunteers need to submit to the School the details about the services, hours, and evidence (e.g. records, photos, letters). The link for submission with the detailed requirements is here: https://forms.gle/yVrrWD44P85juj3n8

4. Spontaneous community services without specific organizers: The volunteers need to submit to the School the details about the services, hours, and evidence (e.g. records, photos, letters). The link for submission with the detailed requirements is here: https://forms.gle/yVrrWD44P85juj3n8

*Note: If the service is a performance, the practice time can NOT be counted as volunteering hours, but the time spent on rehearsal, performance, and video recording can be counted.

评奖标准及颁奖典礼

每年6月，中文学校将公布所有志愿者上一年（上一年6月1日至该年5月31日）的总时长。志愿者如对记录情况有疑问或需要补充，可在7月之前提出，中文学校将酌情考虑修改记录。

每年7月，中文学校将为志愿者申请对应奖励。志愿者通过中文学校申请奖励，必须同时满足以下两个条件：

1. 按照全国统一标准，达到某个奖项的年度总工时要求。

2. 在上一年为中文学校提供志愿者服务至少达到2小时。

(具体工时要求见下图)

*注：如果志愿者参与其他总统义工奖认证单位的活动，可选择：

1. 让其他单位将其记录的工时及证据提供给中文学校，统一由中文学校为志愿者申请奖励；

2. 让中文学校将其记录的工时及证据提供给其他单位，统一由其他单位为志愿者申请奖励；或

3. 通过多于一个单位申请奖励，但工时不得重复计算。

每学年开学初的全校大会上，将为上一年所有获奖者颁发其获得的证书和奖章！

 

Award Criteria and Ceremony

Every June, the School will announce the volunteering hours for all the volunteers in the last year (June 1st of last year to May 31st of current year). If the volunteers have questions or services to add, please bring them up by July so they can be considered.

 

Every July, the School will apply the PVSA awards for the volunteers. The volunteers must meet BOTH criteria below in order to apply their awards via the School:

1. Meet the volunteering hour requirements for awards according to the standard criteria.

2. Served the School for at least 2 hours in the last year.

*Note: If a volunteer participates in activities in other PVSA certifying organizations, he/she can choose among:

1. Having all hour records provided to the School for awards.

2. Having the School provide his/her hours to other organizations for awards.

3. Applying awards via more than one organization, without double-counting of the volunteering hours.

 

In the school meeting at the beginning of each School Year, the PVSA award packages will be presented to the awarded volunteers in front of the whole school!
