经斯巴达中文学校理事会讨论批准，本学校2022-2023学年学费调整为$360。该费用包含全年30次中文课、本校组织的春节庆祝等社区活动、可能的期末聚餐等，不包括各年级教材费、本校可能开设的其他课程费用、非本校组织的相关活动费用等。
从2018-2019学年起，学校学费一直是$300/年。根据https://www.usinflationcalculator.com提供的数据（见附图），从2018年6月到2022年6月，这4年的年通胀率分别是2.3%、1.4%、7%和9.1%。根据计算（$300 x 1.023 x 1.014 x 1.07 x 1.091 = $363.28），所以学校决定将学费调整为$360/年。
2021-2022学年初，通胀已达7%，学校曾考虑过调整学费。顾及当时因疫情影响，不少家庭受到减薪甚至失业冲击，学校决定暂缓一年。今年虽然仍有疫情，但就业和薪资情况普遍好转，希望学费调整没有给各位家长带来太大困扰。
自2022年1月起，中文学校已经上涨了所有老师的工资，以符合密西根州2022最低工资要求，减少通胀影响，并使老师的辛勤劳动得到合理报酬。学校其他方面开销（如教室租借）也随通胀有所增加。感谢各位学生家长的理解，和对学校一如既往的支持！

As approved by the Spartan Chinese School Board of Directors after discussion, the 2022-2023 school year tuition of the School is adjusted to $360. This tuition covers 30 weekly classes of the school year, community activities organized by the School such as Spring Festival celebration, and possible end-of-school-year gathering, etc, does not cover the textbooks, other classes provided by the School if any, or fees for activities hosted by other organizations.
Our tuition has stayed at $300/year since the 2018-2019 school year. According to the data from https://www.usinflationcalculator.com (the attached graph), the yearly inflation rate from June of 2018 to June of 2022 was 2.3%, 1.4%, 7%, and 9.1%, respectively. Based on the calculation of $300 x 1.023 x 1.014 x 1.07 x 1.091 = $363.28, the School decided to adjust the tuition to $360/year.
Actually, at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, the inflation rate was already 7%, and the School considered adjusting tuition. Considering some of the families in our community might be struggling with pay cuts or even loss of jobs due to the pandemic, we decided to wait for one more year. Now, though still in the pandemic, the job market and pay rate have generally recovered from last year. We hope the adjustment of the tuition does not bother the families too much.
Since January of 2022, the School has already raised the teachers’ salary, to meet the minimum wage requirement of Michigan in 2022, to compensate for inflation, more importantly, to show our acknowledgement of the teachers’ hard work. Other costs of the School, such as the facility fee for the classrooms, have also increased due to inflation. Thank all the families for your understanding and support of the School as always.
